Russia's Progress Arsenyev aviation company will deliver 12 Ka-52 attack helicopters to the Russian Defense Ministry as part of state orders this year, Deputy Defense Minister Yuriy Borisov said Tuesday.
VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – Progress Arsenyev is a Russian Helicopters holding division.
"Today at Progress we are looking how the enterprise is ready to implement plans to supply the Defense Ministry with 12 Ka-52 Alligator helicopters, especially since the company received an export order this year," Borisov told reporters.
He outlined the progress for the Ka-52's naval modification, the Ka-52K Katran.
"We discussed the problems with the Ka-52K Katran helicopter. We have completed all preliminary tests of this shipborne helicopter and we need to determine the ships on which it will be based," Borisov said.
"This year along with the work on fulfilling state orders, the Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company will carry out first export deliveries of the Ka-52 Alligator helicopters," Borisov said, as quoted by the Russian Helicopters manufacturer.
On Monday, Director General of Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev said that the Ka-52 Alligator helicopters would be exported to Egypt.
The Ka-52 Alligator is a highly maneuverable reconnaissance and combat helicopter, equipped with powerful offensive weapons, suitable for take-off and landing in hot climates and mountainous terrains and easy to service.
