Donald Trump, who won the US presidential elections, is likely to take efforts to normalize relations with Russia due to an understanding that positive Washington-Moscow cooperation is an important factor for the growth of global economy, experts told Sputnik Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Trump won the US presidential elections despite most of the analysts and opinion polls predicting his defeat to Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump received 276 electoral votes against Clinton's 228 votes, more than 270 needed to win. Good

"This is a very curious topic how everyone criticizes Trump for being against global economic cooperation but he is much more neutral on sanctions and more positive on the perspectives of relations with Russia. He understands that good relations between countries, including Russia, is key to global economy growth," Pavel Bobosik, CEO of the Czech BCM capital management company, said.

Steven Kupka, a managing partner of US-based Husch Blackwell business services law firm, also considers that the newly elected US president will try to improve the relations with a number of states, including Russia, and to correct foreign policy mistakes made by the previous administration. "I think Donald Trump, hopefully, would have a clean slate and new relations that hopefully are very positive between US and Russia. The [previous US president Barack] Obama administration has created unnecessary relations with a number of countries so it’s time for the US to try to create stronger ties and relations with Russia and other countries around the world…. It’s a new day, a fresh start between US-Russian relations," Kupka said.

"Even if Trump was speaking against TTIP [Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership], we will see what he actually meant in the next months. After all, he is a businessman and businessmen understand that developing of the global economy and trade is a positive factor. I think he will correct his views," Bobosik said.

Kupka agrees with this point and considers that TTIP, which involves, the creation of a free trade zone between the European Union and the United States, is possible if it becomes beneficial for all sides. "I think what Trump publicly said is not that he’s against trade deals but that he is against bad trade deals. He wants to make sure that it [a trade deal] should be always in the best interests of not just one but both parties… Clearly, Donald Trump has made it clear that jobs in the number one priority so anything that hurts the job environment will be highly scrutinized," Kupka said.

Trump has repeatedly expressed the desire to support US business in the United States, shifting the focus from the global trade to national economic development. In his addresses, Trump said that the US GDP was increasing also by 1 percent per year while the Chinese GDP – by 6 percent and India's GDP – by 8 percent. He called it stagnation and promised to fight the tendency in case of his victory in the presidential elections.
