
Russia to Continue Army's Modernization, Funds Allocated - Finance Minister

Russia will continue to modernize its armed forces in 2017 and has already allocated funds for this purposes in the country's budget, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said Friday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier, Russian President Vladimit Putin set the task to provide 79 percent of modern weapons in Russian army by 2020.
"The next year is a year when we will continue the modernization of our armed forces, despite all the difficulties. It is a geopolitical task. It is also one of our primary goals, because the president has set the task to provide 79 percent of modern weapons in our army by 2020. The necessary funds for these purposes have been provided," Siluanov told reporters.
