MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Live fire military exercises with S-300 missile systems, jet fighters and support aircraft are planned to take place in April in Russia's Buryatia in southern Siberia, the Ministry of Defense's Eastern Military District's press service said Wednesday.
"Tactical training with live fire from the S-300 missile system are planned at the beginning of April at the specialized Telemba military field in the Republic of Buryatia. The event will include approximately 400 servicemen and more than 150 pieces of military hardware," the press service said in a statement.
More than 10 Su-30SM (Flanker) fighter jets and Su-25 (Frogfoot) air support jets will also participate as target imitations during the exercises.
Russia's Western, Southern and Eastern Military Districts, as well as the country's Northern Fleet held snap drills on March 16-21. The exercises were aimed at checking the troops' combat readiness.
In the designated period, Russian signal troops of the Eastern Military District held large-scale communications drills, with other units taking part in shooting activities and strategic exercises on the island of Sakhalin.
Earlier in March, the district's anti-air defense troops and artillerymen participated in military drills that involved completing long-distance marches and inter-unit communication practice.
