The situation with the Mistral delivery demonstrates the malice of technical dependency from another country, Russian deputy prime minister said.

MOSCOW, December 4 (Sputnik) – Russia will stop purchasing foreign ready-made military equipment following the incident with Mistral helicopter carrier delivery, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Thursday.

'We will no longer purchase foreign ready-made military equipment. The Mistral is a good example that confirms our position,' Rogozin said.

Expressing skepticism over the contract with France that he harbored all along, Rogozin said it had demonstrated the 'malice of technical dependency' on foreign nations.

'If you need to provide for your own security, then you should buy technology and do it yourself domestically. And the situation with the Mistral demonstrates the malice of technical dependency from another country,' Rogozin added.

In June 2011, Russia signed a $1.6-billion deal with France for two Mistral-class ships, one of which was scheduled to be handed over on November 14. The transfer did not take place, and last week French President Francois Hollande postponed the vessel's delivery to Russia, citing the situation in Ukraine as the reason for his decision.
