Mistral-class Vessels to Be Deployed in Pacific Fleet

Moscow, February 15 (KCNA) -- Russia plans to build Mistral-class vessels and commission them in the Pacific fleet to defend the southern Kurils, said ITAR-TASS.
Quoting a Defense Ministry source on Feb. 9, ITAR-TASS said Russia would allocate a large amount of money to improving the infrastructure of the base of the 18th machine gun and artillery division under the eastern military district on the southern Kurils and replace the division's weapons and other combat equipment with new ones.
