Russian army not interested in Wikileaks revelations
13:44 14/12/2010 MOSCOW, December 14 (RIA Novosti) - The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces will not base its policies on a recent batch of Wikileaks cables that reveal NATO's plans to defend the Baltic states against a potential Russian attack, the Chief of Staff said on Tuesday.
"We will base [our policies] on the [Russia-NATO] summit in Lisbon and on the fact that we are partners," Gen. Nikolai Makarov said.
Following the leak of the documents on December 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed profound concern over NATO's sincerity, while NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, said NATO did not consider Russia an enemy, and that the alliance itself did not pose a threat to Russia.
