Russian army to go Wi-Fi

October 2 (RIA Novosti) - A wireless network based on the Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies will soon appear within the Russian Army, Chief-of-Staff Lt. General Sergei Skokov said on Saturday.
"A corporate network... performing communication, planning and alert functions is being created," Skokov said.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called on Friday for the country's security forces to be equipped with up-to-date telecommunications, and for indigenous production of such equipment to be stepped up.
