Russian Foreign Minister said here Thursday that the trip by head of Russia Atomic Energy Organization to Tehran Sergei Kiryienko aims to resolve Iran's nuclear row.

He told reporters that the Kiryienko, who is also co-chairman of Iran-Russia Economic Cooperation Commission, will also discuss other issues of mutual interest during his trip to Tehran.

The Russian official will meet with Vice-President and head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Qolamreza Aqazadeh and other Iranian officials.

He is also slated to visit the Bushehr nuclear power plant and get first hand knowledge on the first phase of the project.

"Moscow respects Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear technology and also stresses that the provisions of the Non-Proliferation-Treaty (NPT) should be adhered to," Lavrov underlined.

"Moscow will do its utmost to find a peaceful solution to Iran nuclear file," he added.

Iran has said that Russian proposal for joint uranium enrichment is "constructive" and "worthy of further review."
Tehran has also announced that by removing ambiguities and shortcomings, the project, as part of package, could offer a solution for resolving Iran's nuclear issue.

It is expected that Kiryienko' discussions with Iranian officials on Friday and Saturday will focus on the details of the Russian proposals.

Director of Russia's Center of Strategic Studies on Wednesday referred to Iran-Russia talks in Moscow as successful and said that the two countries need more time to reach an agreement.

Speaking to Al-Arabia news channel on Russia's proposal to Iran on uranium enrichment in its territory, he added that the Iranian officials believe that their experts should participate in the process to get acquainted with the enrichment technology.

"The nuclear talks will continue in Tehran towards the end of February and will be attended by the Russian minister of nuclear energy.

"If an agreement is reached on full details of Russia's proposed project in the upcoming meeting in Tehran, Iran's nuclear dossier will remain on the agenda of the UN nuclear watchdog rather than being reported to the United Nations Security Council," concluded the Russian official.
