All countries committed to diplomatic solution of Iran issue: FM
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Feb 7, Itar-Tass/IRNA -- A senior Russian Foreign Ministry official has pointed to the unanimity of all countries in their wish to achieve a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue. "All countries are committed to this. This is a link that units us," Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak told Itar-Tass.
Russia, he said, is hoping that the meeting with the Iranian delegation due in Moscow on February 16 will take place as expected.
"Our proposal for creating a joint venture in Russia to enrich uranium for Iran's needs remains effective. It was put forward to help our Iranian friends and to lift all concerns existing over the Iranian nuclear program," he said.
"At the consultations the discussion will focus not only on the problem of the nuclear dossier, but on the entire complex of bilateral relations.
"Russia, as before, is committed to a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue. If our Iranian counterparts are interested in our proposal, we shall be prepared to help," he said.
Russia is prepared to work together with Iran to ensure that that country should have legal access to the benefits of civil nuclear power, Kislyak said.
This, in his opinion, would also help shatter worries over the Iranian nuclear dossier.
Kislyak said "there have been too many speculations over the Iranian nuclear program, just as over any other issue in the sphere of security."
"One should take note of the resolution the IAEA Board of Governors adopted at its session in Vienna. That resolution declares all countries' unanimity in their commitment to resolving the Iranian issue by diplomatic means and this is the link that unites us," he said.
