PACIFIC FLEET WARSHIP ON VICTORY DAY CRUISE
YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, April 5 (RIA Novosti's writer Petr Tsyrendorzhiev). On Tuesday, an amphibious assault ship of the Pacific Fleet, Russian Navy, is arriving at the Sakhalin-based seaport of Korsakov from Vladivostok.
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism, the ship has embarked on a Memory Cruise project, the press service of the presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District told RIA Novosti. The ship is carrying a delegation of war veterans, media, and the Pacific Fleet's song-and-dance performing group.
After Korsakov, the ship will go to the Tatar Strait. On aggregate, the 1,600-nm cruise over the Sea of Okhotsk and Sea of Japan will take 12 days.
"The event in the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will move from Vladivostok through Olga Bay to Korsakov, and then along the Sakhalin western coastline to the seaport of Sovetskaya Gavan", the press service official said.
According to him, after Sovetskaya Gavan the ship will go back to Nakhodka to let the war veterans visit the bays of Strelok and Slavyansky. From Slavyansky, the ship will come back to Vladivostok.
