EXPLODED CAR TO BE EXAMINED
MOSCOW, March 23 (RIA Novosti) - Swedish authorities are examining a Russian diplomat's car that was exploded in Stockholm, press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Sweden Sergei Petrovich said by telephone.
"The police took the car, or to be more exact, what was left of it, to be examined. We hope that we will be informed of the results," he said.
According to Petrovich, the car cannot be restored.
"The car was insured, like all the automobiles of the Russian Federation's Embassy. The question of compensation for the damage done will be decided as usual," he said.
Late Tuesday night unknown perpetrators set fire to a Russian diplomat's car parked near one of the Russian diplomatic mission's buildings. The car burnt down completely, but no one was hurt.
According to Petrovich, an FSB representative working in the Embassy, and a security officer will remain in contact with the agencies investigating the incident.
Petrovich said earlier that Russian Ambassador to Sweden Nikolai Sadchikov intends to meet with top officials in Sweden's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wednesday to demand that the Swedish authorities take additional measures to protect Russian diplomats.
"We regard this incident very seriously. It is a terrorist act, and nothing else," Petrovich noted.
