RUSSIA'S AIR FORCE WILL PUT Yaks-130 INTO SERVICE
RIA Novosti
FLORENCE, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - In 2005, the Russian Armed Forces are starting procuring the training-cum-combat version of Yak-130 aircraft produced jointly by Russia and Italy, according to Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov.
Mr. Ivanov did not elaborate how many planes would be purchased.
Mr. Ivanov said Russia and Italy were being approached by third countries with proposals to sell Yak-130's. The minister did not disclose the countries citing commercial secrets.
Mr. Ivanov believes Russia-Italy cooperation on the Yak-130 project and the two countries' efforts to promote the aircraft in the third markets may be very profitable.
"We are receiving offers from other countries. I will not name them, it is a commercial secret. However, the chances of promoting it in other countries' market are rather good," said Mr. Ivanov.
