IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Feb 25, IRNA -- Russia supports Iran`s right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, and intends to continue cooperation with it in this field, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko stated on Wednesday. "Russia will meet it commitments regarding the construction of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr in full measure," Itar-Tass quoted Yakovenko as saying. "Russia controls the working process at the nuclear power plant; it does everything possible to expedite the putting of the facility on line," the diplomat said. Responding to a question by IRNA, he noted that Moscow welcomed Iran`s signing the additional protocol to the agreement on guarantees with the International Atomic Energy Agency. "We regard this step by the Iranian leadership as evidence of Tehran`s mood to consistently move towards ensuring full transparency of its nuclear program," Yakovenko added. He expressed confidence that the signing of this document and its immediate use in practice `will contribute to the soonest clearing up of all the outstanding questions to Tehran in connection with its nuclear program`.
