Topol-M Will Be Installed on Time

"The Strategic Missile Troops [RVSN] will do everything possible to fulfilled the promise given to the RF minister of defense on placing the Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missiles on alert within the established time periods," stated Colonel-General Vladimir Yakovlev, commander-in-chief of the RVSN, at a ceremony dedicated to the next graduation of missile officers at the Academy imeni Peter the Great. The RVSN commander-in-chief pointed out that in conditions of conducting military reform in the Russian Federation, when "potentially dangerous states and their allies have received a decisive superiority in general-purpose forces," the role of nuclear deterrence objectively increases. Talking about reform of military education within the framework of the RVSN, Vladimir Yakovlev noted that by 1 September 1998, the missile troops will have one academy (imeni Peter the Great), one university (imeni A.F. Mozhayskiy), and three military institutes (based on the present RVSN schools in Serpukhov, Perm, and Rostov).
