S. Korea-Japan Defense Ministerial Meeting Held on the Sidelines of the 12th ADMM-Plus

Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met with Shinjiro Koizumi, Japan's Minister of Defense, on the sidelines of the 12th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) held in Malaysia on November 1.
Minister Ahn congratulated Shinjiro Koizumi on his inauguration as Japan's Minister of Defense and emphasized that in order to strategically address the geopolitical uncertainties and complex security challenges facing both countries, close collaboration and cooperation between the defense authorities of South Korea and Japan are essential.
Defense Minister Koizumi said that South Korea is an important neighboring country and a partner with which Japan must work closely on various international issues. He expressed hope that the bilateral defense relationship will evolve into a future-oriented, cooperative partnership.
Both ministers reaffirmed the critical importance of Korea-US-Japan trilateral security cooperation in responding to the rapidly evolving security environment, including North Korea's advancing nuclear and missile threats. They pledged to maintain open communication and continue efforts to strengthen and transform bilateral defense cooperation into a future-oriented partnership.
