S. Korea-Thailand Defense Ministerial Meeting Held on the Sidelines of the 12th ADMM-Plus

Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met with Nattaphon Narkphanit, Defense Minister of Thailand, on the sidelines of the 12th ADMM-Plus on November 1. They discussed bilateral defense cooperation and ways to enhance Korea-ASEAN collaboration in defense and the defense industry.
Minister Ahn expressed his appreciation to Thailand as a member of the United Nations Command (UNC) and as a participating nation in the Korean War for its continuous contributions to peace on the Korean Peninsula. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defense of Thailand for its efforts in advancing Korea-ASEAN defense cooperation, particularly in its role as ASEAN's country coordinator for South Korea.
Both ministers highly assessed the achievements of defense cooperation through sustained military education exchanges between defense authorities and participation in combined exercises. They pledged to continue and expand collaboration in these related sectors.
Minister Ahn highlighted the superiority of South Korea's defense industry and sought Minister Nattaphon's interest in expanding bilateral defense industry cooperation, including ongoing projects like the frigate program being implemented in Thailand.
Finally, Minister Ahn sought Thailand's support for South Korea's policy on the peace settlement of the Korean Peninsula and the denuclearization of North Korea.
