SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon said Wednesday he anticipated a "visible and positive outcome" from the upcoming six-party talks on the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula.
"For this goal, many-sided efforts have been made (by involvingcountries) ... and I think there has been considerable progress," Ban said during a meeting with reporters before he departed on a six-day trip to the Middle East.
"For example, we think it would be good to issue a joint press statement (after the talks) and are making efforts (for that)," hewas quoted as saying by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.
The first round of six-party talks were held in Beijing in August 2003, but ended without touching on substantial subjects. The six parties included China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the United States, Russia, South Korea and Japan.
