13th Inter-Korean Ministerial Talks Close

    Seoul, February 6 (KCNA Correspondent) -- The 13th North-South Ministerial Talks which were opened in Seoul on February 3 closed Friday. At the talks both sides had an in-depth discussion of issues raised by them, prompted by the will to actively improve the inter-Korean relations through national cooperation in the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and issued a joint press statement today.
    They agreed on the following issues:
    Firstly, the north and the south agreed to cooperate with each other to make the second round of the six-way talks fruitful for a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue.
    Secondly, they agreed to recommend their military authorities to open the talks between the military authorities of the north and the south at an early date for the relaxation of the military tension on the Korean peninsula.
    Thirdly, they agreed to quickly push ahead with the first-phase development of 1 million phyong in the Kaesong Industrial Zone and cooperate with each other in developing 10,000 phyong of the demonstration industrial zone within the first half of this year.
    Fourthly, they agreed to pursue the discussion of the issues raised by both sides including flood control project in the River Rimjin, the effectuation of an agreement on marine transport and a halt to the broadcasting against each other's side.
    Fifthly, they agreed to hold the 9th reunion of separated families and relatives at Mt. Kumgang resort in late March, 2004.
    Sixthly, they agreed to hold the 14th North-South Ministerial Talks in Pyongyang from May 4 to 7, 2004.
