Inter-Korean Meeting to Open in Pyongyang
2003-12-17
The last meeting of the year between South and North Korea will be held in Pyongyang on Wednesday (Dec. 17). It will follow up on earlier agreements between the two on promoting trade and investment, government officials said.
The Unification Ministry said the four-day meeting will discuss measures to ensure stable inter-Korean economic cooperation, the settlement of transactions and the designation of the origin of products for tax exemption.
An eight-member South Korean delegation, together with support personnel and reporters, will leave Seoul early morning on Wednesday to travel to the North via Beijing.
One outstanding issue up for negotiations will be to discuss how to guarantee the safe passage of personnel crossing the border for business. Many South Koreans are expected to work in the North in a few years.
