Troop dispatch for U.S. opposed in South Korea
KCNA
Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity of Youth and Students for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on May 15 under the title "Immediate Stop to Troop Dispatch for the U.S., Root Cause of War Crisis on Korean Peninsula."
Referring to the fact that the second batch of a South Korean army to be dispatched to Iraq left for the spot, the statement accused the government and the national assembly of dispatching troops in defiance of the people's anti-U.S., anti-war struggle and their demand for the withdrawal of troop dispatch.
The Iraqi war was an illegal war, a war of aggression, totally ignoring the united nations and wantonly violating the international law, the statement said, and went on:
The invasion of Iraq was part of preparations for putting the Korean Peninsula under control.
The Bush administration is keen to make preparations for a preemptive strike on the north.
Only the Korean nation of the same blood and language in the north and the south can defend independence and peace in the Korean Peninsula.
