100 More South Koreans Reunited With NK Kin
2003-02-24
Another group of 100 elderly South Koreans made a three-day trip to Mt. Geumgang in North Korea Sunday for a reunion of their long-lost kin.
They crossed the border via a makeshift overland road after more than 400 South Koreans returned Saturday from a similar three-day family reunion in the mountain resort in the North.
The family reunions are considered the most visible result of the landmark inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang between South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in June 2000.
During the visit to the mountain, the South Korean separated family members held reunions with 200 elderly North Koreans through both a group meeting and individual separate meetings.
