By RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal October 29, 2022

At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire with militants in northwestern Pakistan, police told RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal.

Militants attacked military and police forces accompanying a survey team in the flood-affected area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan district late on October 28, police official Attaullah Inaam told RFE/RL.

"It is a mountainous area and a search operation for militants is ongoing," Inaam said.

The attack was claimed by the banned Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A day earlier, one soldier was killed and three others injured in the South Waziristan tribal district. The attack was also claimed by the TTP.
