Pakistan successfully test-fires nuclear-capable ballistic missile

Islamabad, May 23, IRNA -- Pakistan has conducted a successful test launch of the Shaheen-II surface-to-surface nuclear-capable ballistic missile, according to a military statement.
Army media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in the statement that Shaheen-II Missile is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads upto a range of 1,500 kilometers.
"Shaheen-II is a highly capable missile which fully meets Pakistan's strategic needs towards maintenance of desired deterrence stability in the region," it said.
The statement further said the launch was aimed at ensuring operational readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command.
