Separate incidents of violence have killed at least 10 people and injured several others in the restive Balochistan Province of southwest Pakistan, security sources say.
In the first incident, at least three people were killed and several others injured when heavily-armed men opened fire on passenger buses in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan on Sunday.
Eye witnesses say gunmen on motorcycles opened indiscriminate firing on at least three passenger buses in the troubled region.
Local security officials said the attackers managed to flee the scene before the tribal policemen cordoned off the area.
Medical sources said the death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
Separately, police recovered three dead bodies in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan on Saturday. Police forces said all victims had received multiple bullets. The motives behind the killings is not yet confirmed.
Meanwhile, four people were killed in two separate incidents of gun firing in Kharan and Killa Abdullah towns of Balochistan Province.
On June 15th, heavily armed militants bombed a bus carrying female university students in Quetta, leaving 14 students dead and 19 others wounded. About 90 minutes later, the militants attacked the hospital treating the survivors from the bus bombing, killing 11 more citizens and injuring 17 people.
The outlawed Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for Saturday’s massacre in Quetta.
Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US in the so-called war on terror.
Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
