Security forces kill 33 militants in Pakistan’s tribal region
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Jan 31, IRNA -- Pakistani security forces have claimed that they have killed 33 militants affiliated to Lashkar-i-Islam (LI) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in northwestern tribal region, media reports said on Wednesday.
Reports say that fighter jets struck militants’ hideouts.
The TTP spokesman however has claimed that only two of their fighters have died in the air strikes while rest of those killed were civilians.
The claims however could not be verified from any independent sources, as the area is totally inaccessible to the media.
Security sources told media that the jet fighters have also destroyed several ammunition and ration depots of the militants groups during the past 24 hours operation.
They said that at least 23 militants were killed while scores of others injured.
In a separate strike in adjoining Mamozai area, jet fighters also destroyed four militants’ hideouts.
