Anti-Islam film protestors enter diplomatic enclave in Islamabad

Islamabad, Sept 19, IRNA -- A lawyers’ rally protesting against the blasphemous film entered the diplomatic enclave in Islamabad on Wednesday and attempted to move towards the US embassy.
The protesters set alight effigies of the man who allegedly made the blasphemous film.
A heavy contingent of police has been already deployed at the Red Zone, attempting to hold off the protestors.
Meanwhile Dunya TV channel has reported that condemning the anti-Islam film, the cabinet decided to summon US envoy to foreign office to register their protest.
The cabinet also decided that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will address the nation over the issue.
Addressing the session, PM Raja said that a strict notice of the film has been taken and all relevant websites including YouTube have been blocked.
Political and religious parties have announced a country-wide protest against the film which has enraged Muslims worldwide.
The US consulate in Lahore was blocked off with containers set on roads leading to it.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik, during the peace conference in Islamabad, said that the government would participate in the strike against the blasphemous film.
Frenzied protests continue across the country in an outpour of outrage against a US film mocking Islam with demonstrators clashing with police, hurling rocks and shouting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.
The film has sparked a week of furious protests outside US embassies and other American symbols in at least 20 countries.
