Pakistan Bombing Kills 8, Injures 21
12:21 26/07/2012 MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) - Eight people have been killed and 21 others injured when a blast ripped through a market area in northwestern Pakistan on Thursday, Geo News has said.
The explosion rocked the Pusht Bazaar in Bajaur Agency, a region in the restive Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
One person was killed at the scene, while seven others died of injuries at hospital, the report said.
The blast destroyed five shops at the market. Police have cordoned off the area.
The FATA region bordering Afghanistan has long been a safe haven for militants and is believed to be a major source of cross-border attacks, with observers saying it posses a threat to Pakistan’s own security.
