Blast Kills Two Pakistani Soldiers In Quetta
May 14, 2012
Pakistani police say two soldiers were killed and several other people wounded in a car-bomb explosion targeting a military convoy in the southwestern city of Quetta.
Pakistani police and security forces are frequently attacked in Balochistan Province, of which Quetta is the capital.
Last week, a senior police official was killed in Quetta in a drive-by shooting claimed by the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group Lashkar-e Jhangvi.
The group has orchestrated violent attacks on minority Shi'a in Balochistan.
Separatist Baloch rebels have been fighting since 2004, demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from oil, gas, and mineral resources in the province.
