3 die as rocket hit market in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Jan. 3, IRNA -- At least three people were killed and several others injured when a rocket landed at a busy marketplace in a Pakistani tribal region on Tuesday, witnesses said.
Three security personnel are among the injured, they said.
The incident occurred in Landikotal, a main town in Khyber tribal region, near the Afghan border.
The blast took place in a usually crowded area of the market where local force, ‘Levies’ personnel were busy in routine patrolling.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where condition of few injured were reported critical.
Earlier officials had stated that it was a remote control blast which also destroyed several vehicle parked nearby.
This was the third blast in a day after a long interval which shocked the country as earlier blast occurred in Gujrat in Punjab and Peshawar in the northwest.
Two suspected would-be bombers were killed when their explosives detonated on their way to hit a target in Gujrat, police said. They were planning to hit the office of rescue police.
In Peshawar, two people were killed in a blast in a shopping tower in Peshawar.
