Pakistani security man, 2 volunteers die in attack

Islamabad, Dec 14, IRNA -- A Pakistani security man and two pro-government volunteers were killed in an attack in Khyber tribal region on Wednesday, local media reported.

The militants also kidnapped five security personnel after an early morning clash with the forces and tribal ?Lashkar’ or ilitia, Geo TV reported.

Three tribal volunteers were also injured in the clash. There was no report of any casualty of the militants.

Reports said that armed militants attacked a roadside check post, jointly manned by the security forces and tribal militia at Shalobar area of Khyber agency.

The militants kidnapped five security personnel after the clash and killed one of them, the report said. Four security men are still in custody of the militants.

Geo TV reported that people fled the area after the clashes.

The authorities blamed ?Lashkar-e-Islam’ group for the attack.

Several militants groups, including Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operate in Khyber tribal region, bordering Afghanistan.

They routinely carry out attacks on the security forces, pro-government tribesmen and NATO supply trucks.
