31 attackers on checkposts killed in fighting with Pakistan troops

Islamabad, Nov 17, IRNA -- Thirty-one militants and a military officer were killed in gun-battles and shelling in north western Pakistani tribal region, Pakistani media said on Thursday.
English news daily ‘dawn’ said that in upper Kurram tribal region, terrorists launched a three-pronged attack on a check-post in Marghan Kandao area. The forces retaliated and the gunfight continued for some time.
It said that Major Sikandar of Special Operation Group was martyred and a security man wounded, adding that 20 attackers were killed and several others injured in the fighting.
In upper Orakzai Agenc tribal region, security forces destroyed six militant hideouts and a double-cabin vehicle in Koranchi and Dapar Parari areas. Nine militants were reportedly killed.
The militants also attacked a post in Ghundai Makki. The security forces in retaliatory fire killed two militants.
