IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Nov 16, IRNA -- At least 10 people were killed in a US drone strike in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday, security sources said.
The spy aircraft targeted a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) compound in the Baber Ghar area of South Waziristan tribal region, bordering Afghanistan.
According to security officials, the strike took place during the early hours of Wednesday, between 2 and 3 am. Four missiles were fired at the militant compound. The compound was completely destroyed in the strike.
Militants killed in the attack belonged to Commander Mukhles Khan Group of Taliban.
US officials claim that suspected militants are hiding in the region and also launch cross border attacks into Afghanistan from there.
The drone attacks on Pakistan are increasing with rise of every new day. Many recent polls in Pakistan show strong opposition among Pakistani citizens to the drone strikes.
Majority in Pakistan describes these drone strikes as a sheer violation of country’s sovereignty.
