Four Pakistani security men, 5 militants die in clashes

Islamabad, Nov. 12, IRNA -- Pakistani security personnel on Saturday clashed with armed militants of a banned group in eastern Punjab province, leaving four security men and five militants dead, local media reported.

Arshad, alia Mufti, leader of the militants from the extremist ‘Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’ group was among the militants killed in the clashes in Chakwal district, reports said.

The police had announced a reward of five hundred thousands rupees for the arrest of Arshad.

The police launched operation in the mountainous region after receiving a tip from intelligence officials that the militants are hiding in the area.

Express TV reported that four intelligence officials including an army major were killed after the militants opened fire on the raiding party.

The police also arrested 13 militants, Aaj TV reported.
