One person dies in blast in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Nov. 2, IRNA -- One person was killed and 11 others injured in a bomb blast near the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Wednesday, police and witnesses said.
The blast occurred near a check post of the security personal at Karkhanu market, located at the edge of Khyber tribal region.
Police said a tribal trader Malik Taj, who was the main target, was injured and shifted to hospital. The trader is stated to be supporting the government against the militants.
The bomb was attached to a vehicle and was exploded as the tribal trader arrived along with his guards in two vehicles.
The blast also destroyed at least ten shops and two vehicles, witnesses said. TV footage showed destroyed shops and vehicles.
Seven persons were injured and one later died in hospital of wounds, police sources and reports said.
Traffic on the main highway connecting Afghanistan with Peshawar was closed for some time.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Taliban and another group ‘Lashkar-e-Islam’ are active in Khyber agency and routinely attack the security forces and pro-government tribal elders.
