Islamabad, Sept 22, IRNA -- At least two children were killed in a toy bomb blast in Pakistan’s flood-hit southern Sindh province on Thursday, state television reported.
The bomb also injured nine more people in Sanghar district, PTV reported.
The injured were shifted to hospital in Khapro, a main town in the area.
Police sources said the children found the toy bomb and the device exploded when they touched it. Police said they are investigating how the bomb reached in the area free of terrorism.
A police official said that flooding rains may have shifted the toy bomb to the area from other parts of Sindh province, where floods have affected nearly seven million people and inundated its all 23 districts.
The incident has raised concern of the authorities and aid agencies, struggling to cope with the emergency situation where hundreds of thousands people are still living under open sky.
In the last year devastating floods, many explosive devices including landmines, had been shifted to urban areas from the insurgents-infested Waziristan tribal region.
