At Least Six Killed In Pakistan Strikes
June 20, 2011
Suspected U.S. missile strikes today hit a vehicle and a house in Pakistan's lawless tribal district of Kurram, which borders Afghanistan's eastern province of Paktia.
Officials say that at least six people were killed in the strikes.
Local government official Noor Alam said that an attack on a house occurred minutes after missiles hit the vehicle.
U.S. drone strikes routinely target Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants holed up in Pakistan's tribal belt, but the operations are normally concentrated on insurgent strongholds in Waziristan, rather than Kurram.
