Blast in police station injures 8 policemen in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, April 25, IRNA -- An explosion on Monday rocked a police station in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, injuring at least 8 policemen, TV channels and witnesses said.
Preliminary reports suggest that the blast took place at the arms depot of the police station at Gulbahar locality of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province.
Witnesses said that fire erupted in the upper portion of the police station.
The blast damaged back parts of the police station.
Small blasts believed to be caused due to the arms and explosives inside the police station were heard.
Police and private rescue teams arrived at the seen and transfered the injured policemen to local hospitals.
Fire fighters were also called out to extinguish the blaze.
It was not clear what caused the blast. TV footage showed thick smoke coming out of the two-storied building.
