Bomber kills nine people in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, March 3, IRNA -- A suicide bomber on Thursday killed at least nine persons, including four policemen, and injured over 20 people in northwest Pakistan, according to the police.
The bomber exploded his device near a police center in Hangu, a main district in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province, senior police officer in the region, Gul Jamal said.
District Police Officer said that 25 people, including policemen, were injured in the attack.
TV channels quoted hospital sources as confirming killing of nine people.
Bomb disposal squad said that around 600 kilogram explosives were used in the attack, TV channels reported.
The bomb was so powerful that it caused damage to several buildings in the area.
Ambulances were sent to the blast site to transfer the injured to local hospital.
Women and children were among the injured, hospital sources said.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Taliban militants have in the past targeted police in Hangu.
It is the second big attack in Hangu in three months.
On December 10, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a hospital, killing 11 people in Hangu.
