Intelligence agency asked to probe cases against U.S. shooter

Islamabad, Feb 20, IRNA -- An application was moved in a Pakistani court on Saturday seeking directions to the country’s main spy agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) to hold the inquiry of cases against double murder U.S. man Raymond Davis.

Davis shot dead two Pakistanis men in the city of Lahore last month, sparking a serious diplomatic row between the two countries.

A Pakistani Rana Ilhamuddin Ghazi in a petition seeking directions to submit the record of the Raymond Davis before the court said that American authorities wanted his early release fearing that he would reveal secrets about their missions in Pakistan and drone attacks.

He said after his arrest, all drone attacks in the tribal regions were stopped as if he was providing assistance in this regard to the US forces.

Ghazi expressed apprehensions that America could launch an operation for release of Davis as there were several instances when America took such action against sovereignty of different countries.

He alleged that documents recovered from Davis had proved that he was mastermind of terrorists. He said for its own benefit, the US not only could try to forcefully get him released but also it could kill him.

The petitioner pleaded the court that it was necessary to hand over the accused to the ISI so that no one could kidnap him and he also could not flee from the jail.

He said the ISI also could properly hold investigation from him so that all of his missions against Pakistan could come on record.

The petitioner opposed more facilities to the accused in a Lahore prison and said that Davis is spending his days of detention as a guest in two barracks and 18 rooms and equipped with facilities of mobile phone, TV and other facilities.

He submitted that the jail was much far from the city and this distance could help the accused in fleeing from the jail.
