Pakistan forces kill 17 militants

Islamabad, Nov 3, IRNA -- Pakistan military helicopters Tuesday shelled positions of suspected militants and killed at least 17 of them, security sources said.
The security forces continued airstrikes in Mohmand tribal region near the Afghan border on the third day after receiving information about their hideouts, the sources said.
Several hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in the airstrikes.
Sources said that 10 suspected militants were also wounded in the air strikes.
Meanwhile the militants destroyed another girls school early Tuesday morning in Mohmand tribal area, officials said.
The militants regularly target schools in their anti-government campaign in the country’s tribal regions and northwest Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province.
According to official data, the militants have destroyed 59 schools only in Mohmand agency in three years.
More than 250 schools have been destroyed in the tribal areas since the security forces launched operation in the regions in 2003. According to official and local media reports, some 98 schools were destroyed in Bajaur, 86 turned to rubbles in Khyber and 59 in Mohmand tribal areas.
