Pakistan to receive biggest Iranian aid on Oct. 2
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA -- Iran's biggest aid relief will be dispatched to the flood-stricken Pakistanis from Sistan-Baluchestan province on October 2, said head of State Crisis Management Organization.
Hossein Baqeri added that so far, 20 land and air aid packages weighing 1,200 tons have been sent to the country.
The biggest aid weighing at least 2,000 tons will be dispatched to the country on October 2, he said.
Baqeri pointed out that the aid includes tents, blankets, clothes, foodstuff and mineral water.
Pakistan floods began in July 2010 following heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan regions of Pakistan.
Present estimates indicate that over two thousand people have died and over a million homes have been destroyed since the flooding began.
At one point, approximately one-fifth of Pakistan's total land area was underwater due to the flooding.
