Pakistan Air Force to create Air Bridge for floods relief

Islamabad, Aug 20, IRNA -- Pakistan Air Chief, Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, on Thursday directed the air force to create an air bridge for the flood affected area of Jacobabad in Sindh province as it has been cut off from the rest of the country.

He also directed that airfield in the city of Sibi in Balochistan province is to be immediately operationalized by the Pakistan Air Force so that relief goods can be transported by PAF C-130 aircraft in that area.

Earlier, the Air Chief visited the flood affected areas of Sukkur and Jacobabad, main cities in Sindh.

He directed PAF doctors and para-medical staff at the relief camp to provide full support to flood affectees.

The Air Chief also monitored the rescue operations carried out by the PAF helicopters and PAF Special Services Group, operating on boats.

He advised the field commanders to ensure maximum effort by both man and machine with safety to conduct seamless PAF flood relief operations.

The Air Chief presided over a meeting on PAF flood relief operations at Air Headquarters Islamabad. During the meeting, the Air Chief was briefed about the ongoing PAF relief operations in the flood affected areas of Pakistan.

While addressing at the occasion, the Air Chief appreciated the efforts made by PAF field Commanders in carrying out round-the-clock relief operations in the entire length and breadth of the country.

“It is our moral and national duty to support our countrymen during this time of natural calamity”.

He also directed the Air Staff to utilize all available PAF human and material resources to ensure timely relief to the flood affectees.
