Pakistani admiral calls for expansion of defensive cooperation with Iran

Islamabad, May 26, IRNA -- Commander of Pakistan Navy in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mash’alah Shakeri called for expansion of defensive cooperation with Iran.
In the meeting, Admiral Neaman Bashir praised Iran’s recent naval maneuver "Velayat 89” and said that Iran’s defensive capability is a guarantor of peace and security in the region and Pakistan, as a neighbor, supports Iran’s peaceful policies and stances.
He stressed that cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad in the field of defense, especially the navy, will be effective in eliminating marine insecurity and strengthening peace and bilateral friendship.
Admiral Bashir underlined that convergence between the two countries will guarantee regional security and Islamabad intends to cooperate with Tehran in marine affairs more than ever.
Referring to developments on Iran’s nuclear dossier, the commander said that Tehran Declaration was a strong step toward confidence-building.
In the meeting, Shakeri expounded on Tehran Declaration, nuclear developments in Iran and defensive achievements of Iran’s Armed Forces.
He also invited the Pakistani admiral to pay a visit to Iran.
