Bomb blast kills child, injures 10 in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, April 19, IRNA -- A child was killed and 10 other people were injured in a bomb blast near a school in Pakistan northwestern city of Peshawar on Monday, police and doctors said.
Two vehicles were destroyed in the blast near Police Public School in the busy area of Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province, police sources said.
The injured were shifted to a local hospital. Medical Superintendent at the Khyber Teaching Hospital, Khizar Hayat, confirmed death of a child.
The bomb was planted in a shop near the school as the students and teachers were preparing to leave after completion of classes, police said.
No group claimed responsibility for the blast.
Experts of the bomb disposal squad said that five-kilogram explosives were used in the blast. The blast caused damage to several shops on Khyber Road area.
The people closed down after the blast as the police surrounded the area and collected evidences for investigation.
