Two bomb blats kill 15 policemen in Pakistan's northwest

Islamabad, Feb 12, IRNA -- Two bomb attacks on a police station in a Pakistani northwestern city Thursday killed at least 15 policemen and civilians, doctors said.
The twin-bomb blasts happened at the gate of police lines in Bannu, a main city in the North West Frontier Province, police said.
Deputy Medical Superintendent Hafeez said that 15 people including nine policemen were confirmed dead.
The attacks injured over 20 people, mostly policemen, he said.
District Police Officer Iqbal Marwat was among the injured.
He said that Iqbal is in critical condition and is unconscious.
He added that the police officer may be sent to Peshawar, the provincial capital.
He noted that four other injured are in critical condition.
No group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Residents said that the blasts were heard in most parts of the city and windows of several buildings were smashed.
Police imposed curfew and sealed the city to arrest those who masterminded the blats.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the blast at Bannu.
He ordered an immediate enquiry into the incident.
He deplored the loss of lives in the blast.
He also ordered the authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
