Two Pakistani soldiers, nine militants die in clashes

Islamabad, Jan 25, IRNA -- Two soldiers and nine militants were killed in clashes in a Pakistani tribal region on Saturday, officials said.
An official said that a group of armed militants attacked a security forces check post with rockets and automatic weapons in Orakzai agency early morning.
Two soldiers, including a lieutenant, were killed and three injured, the official requesting not to be named said.
He said the security forces launched counter attack and exchange of fire continued for few hours. He said nine militants were killed and several injured.
The official said that the forces conducted search operation at Khuidad Khel area of Orakzai agency and arrested 22 militants with weapons.
Officials believe that militants who have fled military operation in South Waziristan have arrived in Orakzai agency. The area is considered as stronghold of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Locals said that armed militants late Friday night occupied areas surrounding the check post at Feroz Khel area but they disappeared morning. But they attacked the check post in the morning leading to exchange of heavy firing.
