Pakistani soldier dies in militants attack

Islamabad, Jan 13, IRNA -- A Pakistani soldier has been killed in an attack by the militants in a tribal region, officials said Tuesday.
Six more soldiers were injured in the Monday night attack on a check post in Mohmand tribal region, they said.
The security forces returned fire and killed an attacker.
Officials said that the militants fired volley of rockets on the check post at Ghanam Shah area. The forces shelled hideouts of the militants and killed one and injured five others, officials said.
Officials say that some 519 people have been killed and over 400 injured in fighting between the forces and militants in Mohmanad Agency last year. Over 800 people had also been destroyed during fighting.
Clashes have intensified in Mohmand agency in last three weeks, causing casualties on both sides. The local tribesmen are also fighting against the militants and arrested some of them.
Central spokesman of Taliban Maulvi Omar was also arrested by the tribesmen in te same area last year.
