Explosion kills 8 in Karachi

Islamabad,Jan 9, IRNA -- An explosion in a house killed at least 6 suspected militants in the Pakistani port city of Karachi on Friday, police chief said.
Wasim Ahmed said that the militants had stored explosives and were planning to use the bombs for terrorist acts in the city.
Police said that suicide jackets, hand grenades, magazines and Klashnikov automatic gun were recovered from the house at Baldia Town locality.
Police said that the explosives detonated in the house at 7:45 a.m., completely destroying the house. Several other nearby houses were also damaged.
Several people were injured in the blast, police said.
Police said that four people from the nearby houses were taken into custody to question them about those died in the explosion.
Karachi has seen bomb attacks in recent days.
A bomb attack in a procession of Shiite Muslims last month killed 47 people and injured upto 90 others.
Member National Assembly from Wasim Aftab, said that the Friday’s explosion has proved that Taliban militants have entered Karachi, also the commercial center of the country.
Paramilitary soldiers and police rushed to the blast site and experts from bomb disposal squad collected evidences.
