Six killed, 30 injured in Session Court blast

Islamabad, Dec 7, IRNA -- As many as six persons were killed and more than 30 people injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of Session Court Peshawar on Monday, police said.
Police said the blast occurred at Jail Road in front of Session Court when a suicide bomber tried to enter the court but security officials tried to stop him.
As a result, six people were killed and more than 30 injured, among whom six are in critical conditions, while several vehicles are destroyed.
After the incident, law enforcement agencies and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted all the injured and bodies to Leady Reading Hospital.
There is Central Jail Peshawar in front of the court, Governor House, MPAs Hostel, Judicial Complex located at some distance.
Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) of BDS, Tanwir confirmed the suicide blast and said the bomber was coming on foot.
He said that they recovered the parts of suicide jacket and body parts including head of the attacker.
He said that six to seven kg explosive was used in the blast.
The DSP said the attacker might come in auto Riksaw but he blew himself up in open air.
He said the security official tried to stop the attacker from entering the court premises that compelled the attacker to detonate himself in the way.
Senior Minister of NWFP, Bashir Ahmad Bilour visited the blast site and said police officials had successfully averted a huge loss if the attacker had enter the court then the situation may be different.
About the security lapse, he said there was tight security every where in Peshawar but such attacks could not be stopped.
He said such attacks are possible any where in the country and Peshawar is surrounded from all sides as a prime target.
